Led by Sharron Hudson and Linda Wilson, 14 mothers, who have dubbed themselves ‘The Riflemums’, will spend the May bank holiday weekend living like soldiers on the Brecon Beacons.<\/p>\n
Their aim is to raise £10,000 to honour and remember the 14 troops of 2 Rifles who gave their all in Afghanistan last year.<\/p>\n
"We want to show the families of the brave soldiers from the battalion who lost their lives in Afghanistan they will always be remembered for the sacrifice they made and that we hold the families of the fallen close to our hearts," they group said on their website.<\/p>\n
As well as setting up camp, living off ration packs and building shelters, the mums will also take part in the daunting Fan Dance.<\/p>\n
This is part of the fitness and navigation phase of the selection course for the British Special Air Service and Special Boat Service.<\/p>\n
Another group have ladies have decided to do their bit to raise money to support soldiers at home and abroad.<\/p>\n
The wives of troops from the Swanton Morley-based Light Dragoons have come together to pose for a fundraising calendar, with many copies already sold, papers from the Archant Regional group have reported.<\/p>\n
