A Scottish cyclist is hoping to break the 100 mph speed barrier using a bike that has parts of a saucepan in it.<\/p>\n
Graeme Obree – who picked up the nickname The Flying Scotsman from his previous endeavours on two wheels – is hoping the radical design decision will help him go fast.<\/p>\n
Speaking about choosing to incorporate a saucepan into the two-wheeler, he said: "I wanted a light, flat surface for my shoulder supports and it was just sitting under my sink."<\/p>\n
If Obree is successful, it will smash the current land speed record for a bike of 82.819mph set by Canadian Sam Whittingham three years ago.<\/p>\n
The cyclist is famous for breaking the one hour time trial record twice on a machine that used parts from a washing machine.<\/p>\n
I just hope that by the time he has finished the design he still have some pans left in the kitchen to do some cooking.<\/p>\n
