Veterans are to receive assistance from a Burnley-based charity to help them get jobs after leaving the armed forces.

Salute is offering support to ex-servicemen and women as they try to adapt to a civilian lifestyle, the Burnley Express reports.

The not-for-profit organisation has teamed up with Remploy Burnley to launch the Veterans into Placements programme.

Daniel Hutchinson, the chairman and founder of Salute – which has disclosed that 46 per cent of the people it has helped have needed advice on housing, benefits or job searches – noted the individuals involved have "a good work ethic".

"It is difficult for everyone to get a job at the moment but some veterans have complex barriers like depression or post-traumatic stress disorder," he added.

Mr Hutchinson continued by saying he hopes the scheme will give the former military personnel the "motivational push" required to get out there and gain experience in the working world.
