A fashion and music celebration in Irvine should result in plenty of cash being raised for a number of armed forces charities in the UK.

Students from the Kilwinning campus of James Watt College – which has been in operation for more than 100 years – are organising the Fashion 4 Fighters extravaganza and it will see modelling team Honeys for Heroes join up with Salcoats boutique the Dressing Room, the Irvine Herald reports.

The Honeys for Heroes organisation generates funds for numerous armed forces charities, including Help for Heroes.

Wendy Parker, a student helping to put the event together, said: "We are delighted that the Honeys for Heroes models are attending on the night and the armed forces will also have a supportive presence."

She added the fundraising goal on the night is £1,000 – which will include takings from raffles and ticket sales, as well as 15 per cent commission offered by the Dressing Room on transactions during the evening.
