Being a big eater myself, I must admit I'm always intrigued by all the man versus food contests that seem to be popping up everywhere, both in restaurants and on TV.

I reckon I'm not the only guy who thinks he stands a good chance of overcoming these challenges – but an incident in the US would definitely make me think twice now.

In an ironic turn of events, an unidentified participant suffered a cardiac arrest when devouring a Triple Bypass Burger at the aptly named Heart Attack Grill.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics after experiencing chest pains as he consumed the 6,000-calorie whopper, which includes three pieces of meat and 12 slices of bacon, as well as a side order of fries.

Owner of the eatery Jon Basso claimed the incident was not a publicity stunt, adding: "Even with our own morbid sense of humour, we would never pull a stunt like that."

The unfortunate incident may well be enough to put some off their food, but I reckon I'd still be able to handle it!
