The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed plans to support soldiers who are sick or injured with more help in returning to duties or to civilian life.

As part of the new Army Recovery Capability (ARC) initiative, educational, occupational and welfare support will be provided to soldiers in a military environment.

The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes are working on ARC with the MoD, along with other government departments.

Individual recovery plans will form part of the ARC offering, as part of which every person on a recovery pathway will have a tailored scheme, ensuring they can access the specific support they need.

Talking about the plans, minister for veterans Kevan Jones said: "It underlines the government’s commitment, outlined in 2008’s Service Personnel Command Paper, to deliver world-class services for the men and women who serve in our armed forces."

The MoD recently supported soldiers by sending over seven tonnes of festive food to Afghanistan for Christmas.
