People are going to walk 100 km from London to Brighton to raise cash for a charity that helps blind ex-servicemen and women.

All of the money collected from the trek – which has to be completed in 24 hours – will go to St Dunstan's.

Founded 96 years ago, the group seeks to make sure visually-impaired individuals can still lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Denise Yeats, the charity's community and events fundraising manager, noted it will be a "tough personal challenge" for those who take part.

"Experienced walkers, recreational strollers, or beginners who want to do something great for themselves and for charity [are welcome]," she added.

People can take part on their own or in a team and entrants will get regular training advice from the organisation.

Seafarers UK recently donated £30,000 to St Dunstan's and the money will go towards helping ex-personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Merchant Navy.
