Two pubs have raised over £3,000 for Help for Heroes (H4H) by taking part in a charity football match.

Workers and regulars from The Crispin and The Ship in Wokingham took to the pitch for 90 minutes for the good cause, Get Wokingham reports.

The Ship ended up emerging victorious from the encounter 5-3 and both establishments are planning a series of fundraisers over the coming weeks to boost their already-impressive total.

Austin Hamshere, assistant manager at The Ship, said it was great to have "raised a bit of cash" for the charity and joked: "It was probably the greatest game of football that has ever been played".

It comes after Alexander Rae recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – the world's highest free standing mountain – for H4H.

The 30-year-old also collected thousands of pounds for the Irish Guards Appeal and Save the Children after reaching Uhuru Peak, which is 19,430 feet above sea level.
