Generally, I find that adversity brings out the best in people.

A Bulgarian man has showcased his steel by coming up with a humorous way of dealing with the pain of losing his right arm.

Heine Braeck said he always thought the stump resembled a dolphin's head and decided to get a tattoo of the mammal to cover the shoulder joint.

While it does look bizarre, there's no doubting it is a highly original thing to do.

It comes complete with drawn-on eyes, mouth and flippers and is shaped in such a way that it looks like the dolphin is trying to jump out of him.

"My friends think it is awesome and I love it because I don't have to look at a tired old stump anymore," Mr Braeck remarked.

You have to admire anyone with such a good sense of humour and who knows, Dolphin Boy – as I have christened him – may even start a trend in amputees turning body parts into animals.
