I've heard of many extreme sports in my time, but never extreme picnicking.

But that's exactly what a couple in Australia did when they visited the Hanging Rock landmark in New South Wales.

Situated within the Blue Mountains, it is 800ft above the ground and only one foot wide at its thinnest edge.

Photographer Michael Matthews snapped the anonymous pair showing their heads for heights and was amazed by what he saw.

"They even had a hug and a kiss out there, but were being extremely careful," Mr Matthews observed.

He admitted he felt "quite vulnerable" when climbing the rock formation, but he managed to continue to the top.

Anyone who is scared of being high up would do well to aviod the attraction, never mind bringing sandwiches and tea along to it.

The pair must have nerves of steel to climb to the top of the location without getting scared.
