Cycling can be a dangerous sport and there have been some serious crashes in events such as the Tour de France.<\/p>\n
The speeds riders can get up to means that even the slightest collision could spell danger.<\/p>\n
However, one South African racer got more than he bargained for when traversing through a course in Albert Falls Dam in KwaZulu Natal.<\/p>\n
Evan van der Spuy was hit by a sprinting red hartebeest buck as he competed in a competition.<\/p>\n
A video was taken by his friend Travis Walker and shows the 17-year-old being clattered by the mammoth beast.<\/p>\n
Amazingly, Mr van der Spuy emerged relatively unscathed with only a sore neck, although he was initially knocked out by the coming together.<\/p>\n
"I remember seeing the buck very close, but it happened too fast; there was no reaction time. The next thing I remember is being in the ambulance," he told the Mercury.<\/p>\n
