Soldiers who have made it their mission to turn their body into a temple need to realise that going to the gym requires maximum effort, with troops only getting out of it what they put in.

That’s the view of Rich Leigh, weight loss expert and founder of fatfreefitness.co.uk, who said that many people give it a go but eventually stop because of the hard work involved.

The key, he claimed, is to set realistic goals and keep in mind that changes aren’t going to happen overnight but over a long period of time.

"If you end up forcing yourself to do something that you don’t want to do then of course it is going to drop away. It doesn’t necessarily need to a be a long time sticking to it but it does need to be that sort of life change. Bear in mind, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing," Mr Leigh said.

According to research from the London Metropolitan University, for International Fitness Week, regular gym goers confirm that exercise makes them feel happier, more confident and comfortable with their body image.
