A number of friends have done a bungee jump in order to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The group, who are regulars at the Waterloo Pub, in Blyth, Northumberland, plunged 200 ft from a crane set up in the car park of the hostelry, the Evening Chronicle reports.

Some £3,000 has been collected thanks to their daredevil stunt, while Help for Heroes has now received over £100 million in donations.

Ben Simm was one of the jumpers and he noted that although he was nervous beforehand, the whole experience was "brilliant".

"It was the first time I'd done something like that but Help for Heroes is a really good cause so I though I'd give it a go," he added.

Those who undertook the feat ranged in ages from 62 to 18 and the landlady of the bar Helen Merilo – who was the brains behind the operation – was delighted with the event's success.
