Endurance athlete Mike Buss is planning to run more than 100 miles in a bid to persuade the government to honour hero soldiers by renaming a repatriation route.

He will begin at RAF Lynham and travel via the John Radcliff Hospital in Oxfordshire to Number 10 Downing Street.

Once he arrives at the famous address, Mr Buss will hand over a petition containing thousands of signatures to David Cameron, with the aim of renaming the course from Lynham through Royal Wootton Bassett and RAF Brize Norton The Heroes Highway as a mark of respect to fallen troops.

The gruelling challenge will begin on September 10th and is set to take just over 24 hours.

Mr Buss joined the army aged 16 and served for ten years before almost losing his life when a car bomb exploded during a routine patrol in Northern Ireland.

Last week (September 1st), residents of Wootton Bassett marked the end of repatriations through the town with a sunset ceremony.
