Single soldiers may view having an account on an online dating website as an extension of their existing social networking personas.<\/p>\n
Young people in their twenties in particular have adapted to dating online, as it slots in with their other activities via the internet, reports the Independent.<\/p>\n
The newspaper pointed out most people of this age already spend a lot of their time on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, with online dating fitting in with this.<\/p>\n
But it claimed meeting girls online is the opposite of what these sites do, as it is all about forming new relationships, rather than keeping track of existing ones.<\/p>\n
"Typically, at this stage in their lives, twenty-somethings want it all," said the newspaper.<\/p>\n
"They're looking for looks, money, ambition, honesty and above all, someone who they can build a future with."<\/p>\n
James Preece, who is known as The Dating Guru, recently explained a profile picture is essential for those signing up for online dating.<\/p>\n
