According to a study from Co-operatives UK, the cost of a single life now stands at £5014.15 a year, as this is the amount people save when they are in a couple.<\/p>\n
Outgoings such as bills, food and housing all add up and mean that those living on their own end up shelling out more than individuals in a relationship.<\/p>\n
Secretary general Ed Mayo comments: "Everyone is experiencing greater pressure on household budgets, but people who are living alone are suffering more than most, at a time when there are more single households than ever before in the UK."<\/p>\n
He says sharing can make people happy, so there is an added incentive to find love and pinch a few pennies at the same time.<\/p>\n
Recent research from the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour, found the most satisfied couples in long-term relationships tend to frequently kiss, cuddle and caress their partners.<\/p>\n
